About The Event

While it may seem simple to pull a carrot out of the ground or snap off a pepper from its plant, using safe and proper harvesting techniques can dramatically increase the shelf life of your produce, as well as decrease the risk of contamination. In this workshop, we'll cover the basics of harvesting a wide range of vegetable crops, safe post-harvest washing and handling as well as storage techniques for keeping produce fresh, delicious and edible longer!

This workshop is part of the Urban Agriculture track of Growing Gardeners. Growing Gardeners is a collaborative education program ran by City Sprouts and The Big Garden in Omaha, Nebraska.
